- The meeting was attended by 33 members (including committee).
- Frank Lindsay advised members on the status of a dispute between a Plimmerton beekeeeper
and the Porirua City Council which resulted in the offending hive was removed.
- Tutu poisoning, and its effect on bees was discussed.
- Alan Gibbs demonstrated a foldout childrens book on bees, "The Bee",
available at Unity Books (pub 1994 in NZ by Penguin).
- Colin Lees advised that Rimutaka Prison is looking for surplus or unwanted hives.
- The treasurer advised that the Clubs old addresograph machine is to be discarded
in favour of computer labels.
- Andrew Beach is assembling an order from the Club for woodware from Merv Farrington.

- Volunteers from the club are required for a MAF organised diseaseathon scheduled for the
Kapiti area in November.
- Dr Penny FitzHarris (Wellington Hospital) gave an illustrated talk on the effects of
allergic reactions to stings and other irritations. She advised that over 80% of children
who show a reaction, will lose this as they get older. Adrenalin is the appropriate
treatment for severe reaction to beestings. Antihistamine products are of limited use
unless supplemented by a steroid treatment. Teldane is a better (newer, and doesnt
have a depressive effect) antihistamine that polaramine or similar substances.
