The meeting was attended by ? members and visitors (incl
committee).
Richard Hatfield advised that he had a number of surplus boxes (3/4 depth); he also
expects to be ordering some queen excluders in near future.
Frank Lindsay advised that a new standard for manuka honey is being proposed to attempt
to get better quality amongst product labelled Manuka.
The issue of imported pollen and the dangers of unwanted disease coming into the country
were discussed at length at the conference.
Frank advised that honey can now be taken from NZ into Australia, except for Western
Australia which remains quarantined. Comb and beeswax are still excluded from Australia
though.
Chris Jansen talked at length on products from bees and their hives, many of which are
for sale in her shop at Lindale. Her family has had a long involvement in the honey and
beekeeping industry in New Zealand.
Meeting closed at 9:45 pm with supper.
